As far as chapter 1 and 2 are concerned, i learnt that it is not important for a company to have a core instead it is better to have the ability to compete on the edge. This raised a question that, should a company put its efforts on building up the core competence or on using those efforts on competing on the edge? Plz give comments...

I think it will be your strength but not core competence.

Shenazer what i believe it is good to have core competency but as long as it serves as an opportunity.Further it is not must for a firm to design each of its business on core competency as every business is different.But core competency serves as a cost saver especially if is delivery network.

Competing on the dge Strategy is very simple if we know and understand the context of situation where it to be applied.Your business should have core competency but that core compency should sustain forever that what competing on the edge means....

basically the thing is we have to transform our core competencies regarding the changes that occurs in industry that are associated with company's core competencies in order to survive and produce unique in market to prove ourself the best and innovative

i think we are confusing core competence with competeing on edge. the perspective of COE can support the core competency of a business.

m agree with sahar because core competency of any business lies in competing on the edge.
