While thinking on core competencies for our company, Soul collections, I kept on going in circles in finding one core competence that we all could tackle.
I went online and read an article to which i thought would be nice to share..
It states in the article that every company has an opportunity to do something different than the rest of its competition. Its the company's decision to make it happen and that opportunity is then made into a unique solution of selling products/ services, making it a core competence. It does not always have to exist, one can go deep into the structure of that company and find out what the company is capable of doing better than the rest.
Some of these may be,
- Excellent Customer Service
- (State, Nation, Worldwide) Information Networking
- New Product Research and Development
- Market Research
- Relationship Development/Outreach
The flow chart for identifying core competence (or developing a new set of core competences) goes as,
Defining what you need(market segments etc)--->Measuring what you have---> Filling Gaps ( Making a 'wish list' and doing according to it)---->Capturing the opportunities from the current market---->Tapping the new markets and people(if needed)---->Engaging the focus ( of customers or whoever is being targeted).
