Creating Blue Ocean in School Industry

Posted by M Umer Toor

Competition in Sargodha among Matric/FSc schools is "tainted by bloody competition" - it is all a deep red ocean. So naturally the mind tends to think of introducing of O/A levels into this market. What if we don't want to go for any - Cambridge Oxford O/A papers or Matric/FSc?

Differentiation is about "doing different things or doing it differently". We choose the latter way of doing matriculation and high school. We teach local board curriculum according to the best teaching standards in the world. In this way we remain local very globally.

You can easily differentiate your school and gain competitve advantage over other schools ....it doesn't need to introduce rocket science at your school but it only needs committment and devotion.Once you achieve it then you can sustain it for a longer period. For this, you will have to do different things.....
For instance, you can introduce Arabic alongwith english as a compulsary language. For this purpose, separate Language and communication department can be made which will enable the children to learn and speak English and Arabic at early age.
Learning Arabic is not only imporatnt for religious point of view but it is also importand to communicate with Business tycoons in the Middle East.Due to excessive growth of business in UAE and Saudia, one cannot conduct business there without basic knowhow of this powerful language...

In middle east mostly people communicate in english so introducing arabic language or arabic dep. is simply waste of money. Wat i think is new courses related to consultation and other business field should be introduced which have a high mkt value. This would add value to an institution.

@ Awakening

WHo told you that we are going to give technical education to rural students (esp.)!?

@ Omer

Top schools in the world, as per our sociology professor, teach their pupils upto 5-6 languages, and pupils learn it... We can easily teach 4 languages (whether formally or informally) that have equal importance at its own level...

@ Muhammad Umer
Yess, you are absolutely right to say that pupils can learn upto 5-6 languages because the research shows that the learning ability of children is much higher than 18+ teens.
Due to their flexible adaptive characteristics,we have to design the curriculum of this school in a way that will maximize their learning potential to contribute to their personal development right from an early age...

well,i think doing it differently that is teaching matric/fsc in a different way could make a difference but this is not the appropriate way to compete in the international market.the problem is in the curriculum.syallbus of matric/fsc is not designed in a way that can help students to build concepts.

To create blue ocean in Pakistan do this:

Upgrade the curriculum by deleting the stuff that is not even used or important these days from application point of view, Focus on learning and practice not on cramming and memory game, Introduce Sociology which would help come out of "only 1 can be right mentality" and help tolerate and accommodate others' culture, ideas and perspectives and understand humans and society better. This would also help giving way to acceptance of "change and diversity", a basis for development in society. And clarify the role of teachers as facilitators in the learning process not as symbol of "Yamraj" that children get scared by very name of teacher who leave their legs shivering for hours. Make schools a "Happy learning, knowledge and practice hub" Hmm.. And what else?
