Gourmet and Market Scenario

When it comes to cakes, Gourmet is providing cakes that are far better in terms of prices than the city’s other leading confectionaries CTC and Masooms. A cake from Masooms begins from Rs. 500 per pound and it makes Rs. 1000 for a two pond cake. Given the refined taste and perfect quality, Gourmet has recently launched its special cakes which start from Rs. 250 a pound. It creates an imbalance in the existing market place.

Gourmet has come with four flavors in this special order cakes

  • Mould Chocolate
  • Vanilla Fudge
  • Bouvelian Chocolate
  • Strawberry Cheese

Besides, Gourmet has also launched special heart-shape cakes for price Rs. 175 a pound. It is proved that Gourmet is creating uncontested market space and making the competition irrelevant by growing the demand.

Here is another important point that Masooms and CTC is just capturing Gulberg. While Gourmet has a wide network of its outlets, penetrating into the entire of Lahore. Up-till now Gourmet has mainly focused Lahore as its Arena and they made it a great success story.

Have you guys Watched the Gourmet TV ad…What it says: “Gourmet Cola Aya Shehar shehar Har Store Mein……Gourmet Top Quality Har Dour Mein”. It means that they have a vision to spread their product line through out the Pakistan. Obviously to fight with the big guns of market require big productivity, brand popularity and a lot more. So Gourmet had planned it accordingly and they are going through a transition period.

u cannot compare Gourmet cakes with CTC or Masooms cakes. they don't have the same target mkt as of gourmet and secondly there is a wide difference in the quality that is provided by ctc as compared to gourmet. If u talk about flavors, then ctc and masooms have more variety in flavors then gourmet. ctc and masooms are going for mkt skimming strategy that's why their prices are high and at last the add that gourmet has made, it is one of the worst add i've ever seen in my life. that add never motivated me to go and buy stuff from gourmet

Gourmet can never compete big players of market like Coke and pepsi because of their different formula and distribution chanel as their core competency. secondly as far as the gourmet cake market is concerned no one who likes to buy Masooms or CTC or Kitchen Cuizene etc will go to gourmet because of its bad quality of cream used in cake.
As Omer is absolutely right that CTC and masooms have skimmed the market by having their stores at elite areas of Lahore and also by tarketing a specific market of Elite class
What do you think that the cakes of Gourmet costing 250/pound can capture the market NEVER because Shezan is selling its cakes far better than gourmet and i thing it is still cheap

By the way, just observe what segment of people Gourmet is targeting & what the others are, e.g., CTC, Masooms etc

absolutely right the thing is that almost every people can afford gourmet prices but ctc and masoom demand high price for their products because they do target upper class

comparing gourmet with CTC or Masoom's would be unfair, in terms of their positioning. Both have clear cut positioning. Gourmet is targeting the masses, on the other side, CTC and Masoom's is targeting a specific class of potential customers. PRICE does not create Blue Ocean Strategy

i have same comments Omer, comparison of CTC with gourmet is the possibl worst comparison.
