no comparison between Shezan and Gourmet

Posted by Madiha M.S.R*

Now, if we see Shezan then it will be knowledgeable for you to know that Shezan is revising its strategy and also copying Gourmet. For example, Shezan has opened an outstanding restaurant called “Shezan Regale’ in DHA Lahore.

Don’t just take Gulberg, Defense or Model town sort of societies as a whole Lahore or Pakistan. Think broadly. We must observe the success stories in a third world country like Pakistan. The economy where we live is a consumption oriented society. Our nation just earns $1046 per capita in a year and just saves 13-14% of their income. The nation who is right now suffering from 26.9% of Food inflation declined from 48% (read either on internet or in any business magazine like Forbes "Economic Survey of Pakistan 2008-2009"). So, imagine the critical situation and please try to realize that Gourmet is trying to create difference.

If I am not wrong, Gourmet is the one which imitated Shehzan in restaurant business...

Shehzan Before opening its branch in DHA, had already a presence in Fortress stadium even before Gourmet had opened its first one in Faysal Town. I think most of us have been there and can clearly feel the difference...

So, it shows how well Gourmet has imitated Shehzan!!!

My question then would be, where Shehzan went wrong???

Moazaam ! i would like to clarify you that if you have been to Shezan Fortress and after that if you have visited Shezan Regale...you will feel a great difference. One restaurant was opened before the Gourmet restaurant and the 2nd one was opened after the Gourmet restaurant so you will feel that they have tried to improve their standard. it proves that Shezan had copied them .

if u still say that Gourmet has copied Shezan then where is cola, water, ice cream etc of Shezan ?

Now the Answer to your Question: that what went wrong with Shezan?

there are many reasons which put shezan sales down in history. e.g: Gourmet is Giving one day expiry to its perishable goods( if they are not sold in a one working day then the product is sent back to factory where they sent it to hospitals for poor patients and in this way they are fulfilling the corporate social reponsibility and creating difference...they are sending breakfast to meo hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital
So in this way Gourmet products are always fresh and what shezan was doing they were selling ( Bassi Cakes) which bring a bad name to them.
2nd Allegation on shezan was that their owner belong to Qadiyani Sect and this propoganda worked alot in diverting their customers
3rd is: when gourmet came in market, their prices were very much low as in comparison to Shezan so the consumption oriented society followed Gourmet.
4th their variety was not that vast.
5th their service was slow
6th: due to the laziness of Shezan their partnership with Shahnawaz Group (Shezan international ) came to an end.

Let me make you one aspect very clear that Gourmet is the only bakery that produces Colas, Ice creams, Milk and Bottled water.
Shezan bakery and Shezan International are two separate entities. critique is always welcomed as the purpose is only learning.

Gourmet's strategy is very good. they opened there branches at very important place of Lahore that even if a person who lives in DHA or Gulberg preffers to go to gourmet rather to go to any General Store because of its high availability and product range. Next very important strategy of Gourmet is to open the Branch near the branch of Shezan like Cavalry Ground. People are still confused about Shezan's religious matters so this is also an advantage for gourmet to have a good business.

What I meant was just to say that Shehzan was the first one to enter in restaurant business....

& Gourmet got in with its own standards!!!

Yes, the branch in DHA is a lot different than the one in Fortress!!!

Secondly, I am unable to understand that how Gourmet is fulfilling its social corporate responsibility through providing expired products (according to their own set standards) to the poor people, whether in hospitals or wherever...

in fact its a violation, isn't it?

Why there exist a difference in "standard of quality" between "the people who can pay" & "the ones who cant" ????

@ mozam
totally agree. even the gourmet does nt provide quality products when we pay them. Imagine what would happend to those who gt those products after a day as a charity.
